Practical guide

How to move an aquarium safely

Plan the move without lifting a tank that still contains water and substrate.

Prepare containers

Use separate clean containers for livestock, water, plants, filter media and décor. Maintain temperature and aeration during longer moves.

Never move a full tank

Water and substrate create extreme loads. Empty the aquarium as required by its construction and support it evenly during transport.

Restart after the move

Restore filtration quickly, check for leaks and verify temperature. Monitor parameters and livestock behaviour more frequently for the following days.

Important: Adapt actions to the species, equipment instructions and actual measurements. For signs of illness, consult a veterinarian experienced with aquatic animals.
